Police search for culprit of outage

RCMP are looking for the person responsible for a power outage on the North Island

RCMP are looking for an unknown suspect or suspects who shot a number of insulators off a BC Hydro transmission line near the Highway 19 junction to Port Alice on August 26.

The incident knocked out power for about 7,000 customers and caused damage estimated at $40,000. The power remained off for roughly 12 hours.

Hydro is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Tips should be reported to the local RCMP Detachment or Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-TIPS.
