Cyclist hits car
The man riding the bicycle was fortunate to escape injury after he T-boned a car.
But his luck ran out when police handed him a ticket for not wearing a helmet.
According to RCMP, the accident occurred on March 6, around 11 a.m., at the intersection of 13th Ave. and Shopper’s Row.
The 61-year-old cyclist was riding too fast on the sidewalk, didn’t stop at the intersection and hit the side of a Chrysler 300.
“The collision caused a significant amount of damage to the vehicle and the cyclist was lucky to avoid any significant injuries,” said RCMP Staff Sgt. Troy Beauregard.
Load spills off logging truck
A brake failure on a loaded logging truck caused the trailer to separate from the cab on Friday morning.
This caused the load of logs, most 80 feet long, to spill onto the highway. The road was closed for a short time to clear the debris.
The trailer was ordered removed from the road for mechanical inspection.
Burned out tail light costs driver
A motorist on Cedar Street was caught driving under the influence after being stopped for having a burned out tail light.
The vehicle was stopped by RCMP on March 8 at 10:10 p.m.
According to Campbell River RCMP, the driver displayed symptoms of having consumed alcohol and was arrested and subsequently provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit.
The vehicle was impounded and the male driver is facing impaired driving charges, according to RCMP Staff Sgt. Beauregard.
