Cannonball! A youngster makes a splash at Centennial Pool this summer where user numbers were up.

Campbell River’s Centennial Pool was even more popular this summer than it was during last year’s sunny season.

General admissions at the outdoor pool from June 2 through August 24 was up by more than 1,000 visits, according to a City of Campbell River press release.

The pool schedule was adjusted this summer to offer more family, public and length swimming. New evening Swimfit and Aquafit classes were offered. Additional length swims and new fun, family drop-in lessons were held on weekends. Red Cross swim lessons, including Bronze Medallion and Cross certifications and a popular Junior Lifeguard Camp were also available.

Comments received from parents about the pool this summer included:

  • “This is the best opportunity for clean, safe learning all summers. All the staff are smart and friendly and work hard too.”

  • “This pool has been an exceptional and valuable part of my kids summer and learning to swim.”

Among the younger crowd enjoying summer days at one of our community’s favourite places to make a splash, comments included: “It was all good” and “Everything was great!”

“We’re pleased to have offered safe and satisfying swim time for so many people this summer and look forward to another successful season in 2015,” says Ross Milnthorp, the City’s general manager of parks, recreation and culture.
