Mounties board boat to arrest man after report of domestic assault

Police were assisted by the staff of Campbell River Whale Watching in getting to the boat in question

Campbell River Mounties had to make a rescue at sea during a domestic dispute May 6.

At approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday, RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a domestic assault in progress on a boat near Discovery Harbour. Police were assisted by the staff of Campbell River Whale Watching in getting to the boat in question, Cpl. Gord Hay said. Police were able to diffuse the situation without incident.

A 28-year-old male was arrested and charges are pending. The male will make a court appearance at a later date.

Police thanked all those who assisted during this event which greatly assisted them in bringing it to a safe conclusion.
