Man with knife arrested at University of Victoria’s First Peoples House

A man with a knife was quickly arrested at the University of Victoria on Tuesday, May 14.

Around 12:00 p.m., a man was a knife ran into the First Peoples House (FPH) and threatened staff.

Campus security and Saanich Police responded and arrested the individual.

Saanich Police has confirmed no one was hurt during the incident. They are also requesting the man to not be permitted to return to the campus.

It is believed the man was camping on campus but isn’t part of the Pro-Palestine protest encampment.

Uvic remains open but FPH will be closed for the rest of the day.

An investigation is ongoing.
