A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck just off the West Coast of Vancouver Island on Fri. Sept. 9.
Officials from the Provincial Emergency Program (PEP) confirmed that it happened at about 12:41 p.m. about 80 kilometres south of Port Alice.
The earthquake was felt from Campbell River to the Fraser Valley, with some buildings felt swaying slightly in Campbell River.
PEP officials said that there is no danger of a tsunami as the tremor was too small. Aftershocks could be felt in the coming days.
