A drunk who couldn’t navigate the drive through lane at a local fast food restaurant had his vehicle impounded last week. It was just one of 10 drinking and driving offences in a busy week for the RCMP.
RCMP Staff Sergeant Troy Beauregard reports that a small four-door blue car carrying four intoxicated males was experiencing difficulties navigating the drive through and collided with the building a number of times on Nov. 7. The driver was given a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle impounded.
It was one of 254 calls for service last week including four impaired driving charges, four 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions and two 24-hour roadside suspensions.
Police also responded to a domestic dispute on Lewis Road. It is alleged that a male assaulted his female companion, made threats and destroyed property in the home. The male was located and arrested without incident. He was released the following day to appear in court with numerous conditions, including no contact with the victim. The day of his release the male breached those conditions by going to the residence. He was located and held for court.
Beauregard also reports that in less than a month there have been three thefts of dirt bikes in the Campbell River area along with one in the Comox Valley. The thefts are occurring throughout the area rather than one specific location. The thieves are targeting dirt bikes in carports and back yards and in the Comox incident the dirt bike was stolen out of the back of a truck. The incidents have been occurring during dark but not necessarily overnight.
The police say there has been an increase in Graffiti in the Willow Point area. The majority of the tagging has been at a business on the South Island Highway and the Willow Point School. The tagging is considered related. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP.
