Disabled Campbell River man’s electric bike stolen

A Campbell River man with mobility issues is warning the community not to buy a hot electric bike.

Bruce Forsberg says if you’re offered a black and silver XPH Motorino electric bike for a great price in a private sale, you should call the RCMP because it might be the one stolen from his underground parking spot on Erickson Road.

“I just want to remind people: don’t buy the darn thing,” Forsberg said.

The bike is essential to Forsberg for getting around due to his disability.

“I use it get into town from Willow Point to go to the doctors, to do banking, etc.,” he said.

The bike was stolen sometime Sunday night between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. from an underground parking lot at 155 Erickson Road.

Local merchants who deal with these kinds of vehicles have been warned about the theft in case someone tries to sell them the bike.

It’s an approximately $3,500 item and although it’s insured, it’s going to take a few weeks and a $500 damage deposit to get it replaced, Forsberg said.

You can contact the Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
