The Coldest Night of the Year is a fundraising walk that takes part on the same day all across the country, and this was the third year the event was held in Campbell River. This year, 113 walkers registered for the event, and the walk raised $16,609.20 for Campbell River Family Services. Campbell River Family Services provides a range of programs and services, including counselling, support, education, prevention and crisis intervention, and the non-profit charitable organization is raising money for a temporary location for a sobering assessment centre this year.
