City, school district maintain links

The school district is currently organizing the first meeting between the two new sets of elected officials

Campbell River city council will continue to meet with School District 72’s board of education on a regular basis.

The joint liaison meetings between the two parties have been ongoing for the past several years and the new council and new board will pick up where its successors left off.

The school district is currently organizing the first meeting between the two new sets of elected officials.

At a council meeting on Jan. 12, councillors voted to submit four topics, relevant to both the city and school district, for discussion at the meeting – international students, graffiti, the Carihi Forestry program, and invasive species.

The joint liaison meetings are typically one-hour lunch meetings, held at least three times a year.

They exist to provide an opportunity for discussion and information sharing on matters of importance to both the city and School District 72.
