Car catches fire in Wal-Mart parking lot

A vehicle fire caught the attention of shoppers at the Campbell River Wal-Mart

Campbell River fire crews were called to to put out a car fire in the Wal-Mart parking lot Thursday afternoon.

Flames and smoke could be seen spewing out from under the hood of a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am. Crews extinguished the fire with water from a fire hose attached to the fire truck.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and still undetermined at this time.

No one was injured in the blaze, and the owner is credited with promptly calling 911 and staying away from the burning vehicle until it was made safe by the fire department.
