The Altrusa Club of Campbell Riverdonated handmade trauma quilts to Campbell River RCMP recently.

Each quilt (actually a quillow) is handmade and embroidered by volunteers in the club. These blankets are handed out at crime scenes and traffic incidents to provide warmth to victims while on scene. They also donate trauma bears for RCMP to hand out to help comfort children when dealing with traumatic events.

“The RCMP appreciates their generosity and certainly so do the victims who find comfort in these items during sometimes the most difficult time in their lives,” said Const Sara Clark. “In our line of work we see a lot of grief and fear. As police officers we appreciate having these tools to help support people. It allows us to provide comfort and allows the victim to connect with us, which helps lessen the impact of the trauma.”
