Bald Eagle Festival Photo Contest

Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society (MARS) will host its 10th Annual Bald Eagle Festival, on Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. indoors at the Maritime Heritage Centre.

The theme this year is the “Rearing Period.” MARS has some great educational speakers on board and you will be able to meet wildlife up close and personal.

It will also be an opportunity to enter your best photos of birds and Vancouver Island wildlife Sponsored by Photo Tech Fotosource. Your entry gives you a chance to win some wonderful prizes, show off your photographic skills and support MARS in its work of rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife.

The categories for the photo contest are:

BC Native Plants and

BC Native Animals

People’s Choice Prize for each category:

First Prize is a Canvas Wrap Photo Print (16” x 24”). Second Prize: Print of photo on Metal Panel (8x10). Third Prize: T-Shirt with photo print. President’s Choice Prize: A Canvas Wrap Print size 16” x 24”.

Winners will be chosen by popular vote. Festival participants can cast their ballots at the MARS booth to vote for their favourite photos in each of the two categories. There is no age limit. Non-Native species will be displayed but are not eligible for voting.

To enter the contest, submit your photos on an image file on a memory stick or CD to Photo Tech Fotosource at #110, 1260 Shoppers Row in Campbell River. Entry forms will be provided by Photo Tech. The entry fee is $5 per photo for youth and $15 per photo for adults. The closing date for entry is February 18, 2015.

Contestants may keep their 8x10 photo but will be asked to sign a release to allow MARS to use their image in future fundraising events and publications, including Facebook and the website. For more information on EagleFest, please see www.wingtips.org. See you at the Festival!
