A blue Volkswagen Jetta traveling southbound on South Dogwood Street Friday afternoon turned left into a northbound pickup truck. Minor injuries are reported.

The driver of a blue Volkswagen Jetta turned left across oncoming traffic on South Dogwood Street Friday afternoon at Rockland Road at approximately 1:30 and was struck by a northbound burgundy pickup truck.

According to Cst. Dave Dormuth of Campbell River RCMP Municipal Traffic, speed, alcohol and road conditions have all been ruled out as factors, and "lack of attentiveness" of the driver of the Volkswagen is considered to be the cause of the incident.

Minor injuries occurred during the incident, mainly due to airbag deployment and seat belts, according to Dormuth, but the full extent of those injuries will be unknown until a full assessment can be done by medical personnel.
