At approximately 2:24 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, the City of Campbell River Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 155 Erickson Road.

Approximately 20 firefighters responded, and mutual aid support was provided by the Oyster River Fire Department. Residents were evacuated and no serious injuries were reported, according to a statement from the City of Campbell River.

The Strathcona Regional District Emergency Support Services (ESS) program was activated and a reception centre to support the evacuated residents was established at the Campbell River Baptist Church. The reception centre is now closed and evacuated residents are encouraged to reach out for support and information on temporary access to the building at 250-203-1972.

The city advises the public to stay away from the area and follow directions from city staff, emergency services personnel and security on site.

Support for this incident was provided by emergency responders, RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, BC Transit, Baptist Church, Passage View Motel, ESS volunteers, and the local taxi companies.
