The Cops for Cancer Jail and Bail is on tomorrow at Tyee Chev-Olds.
The Jail and Bail is a fundraising event for the Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer program. It has seen some incredible success over the years.
The event has been led by the Cops for Cancer riders.
The concept: high profile citizens of the community are arrested from their day-jobs and ‘thrown’ into the mock community jail which is usually in a very public venue.
At this time, the ‘jail-bird’ has a chance to call friends and family and request donations so that the ‘jail-bird’ can make bail and be released from jail.
In theory, organizers will set a minimum bail and some arrestees may have a bail set substantially higher than the minimum posted bail.
This event is an excellent community event from a fun-factor and an awareness perspective.
