Fire Department supports 2016 Camp Ignite Firefighter Mentorship Program for Girls

From August 11-14, 2016, two young women, ages 16-18 (grades 11-12), can participate in Camp Ignite, a four-day camp that educates and inspires young women to follow their dreams.

The camp, which is hosted at locations throughout Vancouver, including the Vancouver Fire & Rescue Training Facility, YMCA and Grouse Grind, will give the women an introduction to the world of firefighting. Each of the successful applicants will learn about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork in the fire services.

All transportation, food and accommodation during camp is covered. Participants only have to provide their own transportation from their home town to camp and back.

Successful applicants who are from Campbell River will be sponsored and provided with gear for the camp from the Campbell River Fire Department.

If you want to apply, download and fill out the application form and drop it off at Campbell River Fire Rescue Firehall, 675 13th Avenue, or email it to Thomas Doherty CFO, Deputy Fire Chief by 4 p.m. June 29, 2016 at Thomas.Doherty@campbellriver.ca
