Up-and-coming young pianist to appear in Campbell River Singers spring concert

Carter Johnson has been racking up the international accolades and Campbell Riverites can hear him April 27 as a special guest at the Campbell River Singers’ Springtime on the River concert.

Campbell River Singers annual Spring Concert, “Springtime on the River”, will be held at St.Peter’s Anglican church on Sunday April 27 at 2 p.m.

This year, the Singers will be joined by local musical phenomenon Carter Johnson, a student of Shelley Roberts, as their special guest.

Seventeen-year-old Johnson is recognized internationally as a pianist of great artistic integrity. His long list of achievements includes Second Prize in the Julia Crane International Piano Competition in New York, Second Place in the CFMTA Young Artist’s Piano Competition in Regina, the special Baroque and chamber music prizes in the CFMTA competition, a Gold Medal from the Royal Conservatory in Elementary Piano Pedagogy, the BCRMTA Gold Award in Community Service, and numerous winnings at other provincial and national festivals.

Johnson has received his A.R.C.T. in Piano Performance (with Distinction) from the Royal Conservatory and his A.T.C.L. in Speech and Drama (also with Distinction) from Trinity College London and plans to pursue his studies in music to prepare for an international career as an artist and teacher.

The Singers look forward to presenting their audience with a great selection of pieces that you are sure to enjoy. There will be something for everyone, from easy jazz to My Fair Lady.

Tickets, available from choir members or at the door, are: adults $15;   students and seniors $12.
