Stillpoint, a novel of war and peace, to be launched at Still Water

Thought-provoking and beautifully written, Stillpoint is peopled with unforgettable characters

Comox Valley award-winning author and Lao Tzu expert, Colin Mallard, will launch his new novel, Stillpoint, at Still Water Books and Art on Friday, August 20 at 6:30 p.m.

Thought-provoking and beautifully written, Stillpoint is peopled with unforgettable characters who deal with the ripples and waves generated by events which occurred from 1939 to 1948.  As the characters search for what T. S. Eliot called “the stillpoint of the turning world,” American and Israeli politics collide in the ancient battleground of Palestine.

Mallard sees “stillpoint” as “the place of pure seeing, of pure being, devoid of disturbance.”  This work of fiction draws from historical events to paint an alternate future, where a more hopeful understanding of common humanity might emerge.

The event will include readings from the book, discussion of the ideas related to the book, snacks, and book sales and signings. For more information, call 250-850-3103.

The $5 cover charge is refundable on any purchase of $10 or more.
