Promising a spicy line-up of songs for all musical tastes, Quadra Singers is tuning up for a Musical Potpourri this spring.

“We’re inviting singers past, present and potential to join us as we begin our next musical adventure, which will be a fun blend of musical styles,” says choir director Linda Cannon.

Cannon says the mix will include jazzy showtunes, rousing gospel, African and Indian folk songs with drums, a piece from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro – and much more.

“They say variety is the spice of life, and the combination of songs in this spring’s potpourri will suit the wide range of interests in our community choir,” Cannon says.

“And we’re hoping to invite guest performers to present their musical favourites for our concert in April for a celebration of musical traditions.”

Quadra Singers extended a warm and heartfelt thanks to all the performers who participated in the Winter Gathering, the community choir’s Celtic Christmas concert in December – and to all the Quadra Island photographers who provided images for the slideshow that set the seasonal scene.

“Audience members made a point of telling us how much they enjoyed the photos, the piper, highland dancers, a recorder and harp ensemble and the Celtic quartet as well as the singing trio and choir’s songs,” Cannon says.

“We were so pleased to host this warm community gathering that truly captured the spirit of a winter celebration.”

Mark your calendar for Thursday, Jan. 17, when Quadra Singers starts regular rehearsals of Musical Potpourri.

To be part of the musical fun, join them at 6:45 p.m. at the Quadra Island Legion Hall.
