The City of Campbell River’s Recreation & Culture Department is offering two performing arts camps this summer.
The first camp is a singing camp offered Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25 for youth eight to 12 years old.
Youth will have lots of fun making meaningful connections with other singers through music. They will learn how to use their singing voices, sing as part of a group, learn quality repertoire, and receive quality instruction. Days will be filled with making friends, learning music, playing games, rhythms and singing, singing, singing, ready to perform by the end of the week! The camp will end with an “informance” for parents, where singers will show what they know and sing for family and friends.
Instruction will be provided by Jennifer Abbott, the co-conductor of the Campbell River Children’s Choir. The week-long camp will be held at the Sportsplex from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Cost of the five-day program is $100.
The second camp is Movie Magic. Instructed by producer and filmmaker Chris Jaycox (pictured left), the action-packed week will feature Hollywood movie secrets, animated claymation movie and short film with props, acting and special effects. Movie Magic runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 5 to Friday, August 8 at the Sportsplex for youth eight to 15 years old. Cost of the four-day camp is $156.
