Pianist takes second place in competition

Sixteen-year-old Carter Johnson won second place at the BC Piano Competition held last month in Abbotsford.

This biannual competition was sponsored by the BC Registered Music Teacher’s Association and included both high school and university students under the age of 25 at an advanced level of piano.

Johnson’s acheivements from this past year include competing in the Canadian Music Competition in Vancouver, where he proceeded to the finals in Toronto, and receiving his Performers ARCT with Distinction.

Carter studies piano with Shelley Roberts and he has completed all advanced theory with Sandy Havelaar, both of whom are members of the North Island Registered Music Teacher’s Association.
