The Campbell River SIngers will present their 36th annual Christmas Concert on Dec. 6 at the Tidemark Theatre.

The Campbell River Singers invite you to join them for their 36th annual Christmas Concert on Saturday Dec. 6 at the Tidemark Theatre.

Under the direction of John Montgomery, the choir will be presenting a wonderful evening of music and song featuring “Let Heaven and Nature Sing Gloria!”

This cantata brings together beautiful music, familiar Latin phrases, carols old and new, along with narration provided by well-known local actor and teacher Brian Down.

Other special guests joining the Singers this year are La Isla Guitar Ensemble. Students of Helga Hagen, La Isla has performed locally and abroad, most recently at the 23rd International Guitar Symposium in Germany where they were honoured to be one of only 10 participants chosen to play at the Finale Concert.

The second half of the performance will be a colourful blend of carols, contemporary Christmas songs, and up lifting spirituals. Assistant choir conductor, Shelley Roberts, will be directing “Lully, Lulla, Lullay”.  This beautiful and haunting lullaby, with words from the traditional carol, uses medieval text brought to modern day with simple, yet lush harmonies.

For a totally different listening experience, Shelley will also be conducting the jubilant carol, and choir favourite, “Arise and Shine! Your Light Has Come!”

You will be entertained with “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town”, a simple, yet fun treatment of this Christmas standard.  “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” will bring back the warm and simple feelings that we all enjoy during the holiday season.   Enjoy “Calypso Lullaby”, “Angels Was A-Shoutin’ on Christmas Morn”, and other familiar favourites.

So call a friend, bring your family, and feel the warmth of the season with the joyful noise of the Campbell River Singers!
