A Canadian Music Hall of Fame band will bring its best hits next week.

According to a release, the platinum-selling, Halifax-founded group April Wine will rock the Port Theatre stage on Thursday, June 15, as they tour Western Canada.

The band enjoyed international success in the ’70s and ’80s, releasing more than 20 albums since 1971 and selling more than 20 million albums worldwide.

Their discography includes numerous gold and platinum-selling records and features hits such as Roller, I Like to Rock, You Won’t Dance with Me, The Whole World’s Goin’ Crazy and You Could Have Been a Lady. According to the release, the band is best known for their international top-40 hit Just Between You and Me, which was included as part of the first music videos to be broadcast on MTV in 1981, also making them the first Canadian band on the channel.

April Wine has received a combined total of 11 Juno Award nominations in the Group of the Year, Album of the Year and Best-Selling Single categories.

In 2009, the band was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for being part of Canadian music history for 40 years, and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2010.

The show is sold out.
