A solo exhibition by local Chiropractor Dr. Janis Guthy is opening at the Tidemark Theatre on April 2 and runs until April 25.

A continuation of her phantasmagorical photo art, this year’s show centres around the Enchanted Forest.

The backgrounds come from photographs she has taken of the natural temperate rain forests, swamps and waters of Vancouver Island.

These forests, however, are far from ordinary. Hunched on a tree stump you will meet the Scribe who rules with wisdom and understanding. Knights of bold, Ogars, princesses, magical horses, mermaids and mystical fish complete the story.

Being a multi-media artist, Dr. Guthy integrates skills of fashion design, sculpture, painting and set design.

Meet our Lady of Light. She is a seven foot sculpture and her head and body are totally covered in gems.

She wears a three-tiered skirt on which 300 crystals hang.

Her reflection illuminates a path where you will find the rarest of all treasures.

Journey with us to where one moves beyond the boundaries of our senses and our minds leap beyond time and space.

Dr. Guthy holds two photo shoots per year, the next shoot is coming up from May 19-28.
