Just as we prepare for a big occasion with new haircuts and clean clothes, Bonsai Club members are sprucing up their trees this week in preparation for their third annual Bonsai Show at Sybil Andrew’s Cottage on Saturday, July 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
Bonsai (pronounced “bone-sigh”) are real trees of many different varieties, which have been carefully pruned and groomed over years to achieve the look of an old tree or grove of trees, in miniature. Like any hobby, there is lots to learn about soil mixes, specialty tools, pruning methods and more. Club members will be on hand to offer explanations and demonstrations to the public on Saturday.
