After running four shows this spring, and eight last season, Willow Point folk-band Awakeneers will be wrapping up this year’s Acoustic Matinée series with a final show on Saturday, May 18 at Sybil Andrews Cottage.

Audience members can look forward to a lovely afternoon of live music at the charming and intimate venue, with an intermission and chance to chat, mingle, and enjoy coffee & snacks.

The program will feature a diverse mix of original songs written by members of the band, ranging from gentle folk ballads to upbeat tracks with funk and reggae influences.

“As a way of celebrating the final show of the season, we’ve decided to make the tickets for this event entirely free,” says Immanuel, one of the band members

“We still encourage advance registration, because seating capacity is quite limited.”

Even though this series is wrapping up, the Awakeneers have other shows coming up over the summer, and look forward to seeing fans at venues such as the Kitty Coleman Gardens (Alchemy of Gathering Festival), Spirit Square, the Gabriola Folk Club, Salt Spring Island’s Mateada Lounge, Duncan’s 39 Days of July, and Lovefest on Cortes Island.
