Art exhibitors' deadline looms

Artists interested in art gallery's 33rd annual Members Exhibition must enter by March 19

Attention artists! Do you have a piece that you would like exhibited? Then don’t forget to register for the 33rd Annual Members’ Exhibition presented by the Campbell River Art Gallery and the Campbell River Arts Council.

Registrations are due by Thursday, March 19, at 4 p.m. and this year’s exhibition runs from April 2 until May 8 at the Campbell River Art Gallery.

The exhibition is a community tradition that features the work of dozens of regional artists who are members of both the Campbell River Art Gallery and the Campbell River Arts Council. Regional artists, from professionals to newcomers, are encouraged to submit one ‘ready to display piece’ of two-dimensional, three-dimensional or new media art for this popular exhibition, which acts as a showcase for the regional arts scene.

New this year is an opportunity for participating artists to submit a digital photograph of their studio or workspace. The photos will be included in a new addition to the Members’ Exhibition called A view from the easel. The creative process, the artist and the artists’ space is always of interest and in A view from the easel, the public will be able to see those spaces in an ongoing slide show during the exhibition.

Submitting artists must be a member of both the Campbell River Art Gallery and the Campbell River Arts Council societies, and include a $10 entry fee. Applications can be submitted at any time before 4 p.m. March 19. Art work will be delivered on March 28. Drop by the Gallery, or visit the art gallery's website for an application form. Artists who wish to do so can submit to have their work juried for awards by a panel of professional artists. This annual exhibition is sponsored by CR Lawyers – Shook, Wickham, Bishop and Field.

The exhibition opens with a reception Thursday April 2 at 7 p.m., with awards being presented by local dignitaries and comments by the panel of jurors.
