60 works of art reviewed by professional jurors

Annual members exhibition at the art gallery

Delve into the heart of the local fine arts scene tonight at the opening night of the annual Members’ Exhibition at Campbell River Art Gallery, co-hosted by the Arts Council and the Gallery.

Over 60 pieces, representing as many artists, will be reviewed by professional jurors and awards will be presented tonight at 7 p.m. Many of the participating artists will be on hand to hear the juror’s appraisal of the merits of the award winning pieces, with congratulations added by Mayor Charlie Cornfield and MLA Claire Trevena.

The Members’ Exhibition is an impressive representation of the strength, talent and diversity of regional artists, who push their limits to present their best work for this show. The jury, which changes every year to give fresh perspectives, are uniformly impressed by the risks artists take and their skill.

Hundreds of visitors view the show in its four week run. The public are invited to join the fun on opening night and to visit often to make their own selection for the coveted People’s Choice Award, which will be announced on closing day, April 8. The Gallery, in Tyee Plaza, is open Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 5:00 p.m. and admission is free.

The Members’ Exhibition is sponsored by Campbell River Lawyers Shook, Wickham, Bishop and Field, with additional thanks to Thrifty Foods for providing the delicious snacks and bouquet for the opening, and to Impressions Gallery and Framing and the Framing Post for generous gifts for the top awards.
