Jen Furst is looking scary as a zombie in last year’s Zombie Escape at the Sportsplex. The event returns this year on Oct. 19.

Run for your life. The zombies are coming.

The second annual Zombie Escape, four-kilometre obstacle course is back on Sunday, Oct.19 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sportsplex.

And, if you’d enjoy scaring the socks off the runners, more undead recruits are needed.

“Anyone volunteering will have help dressing up and getting painted to make this awesome event super scary,” says recreation programmer Margaret Lukban. “This might be a good dress rehearsal opportunity for Halloween costume ideas too.”

Recreation leader Jen Furst said her first time as a zombie was an experience she’ll never forget.

“Participating as a zombie last year was a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to volunteering again,” says Furst. “I had a blast getting dressed up for the part and walking and talking like a scary zombie as I chased all my family and friends to the finish line.” Registration is now open to become a zombie volunteer. Sign up for free at the Campbell River Community Centre or Sportsplex – and make sure you are prepared to be scary and have fun.For more information about this event, drop by the Sportsplex or Community Centre, or pick up the Fall Recreation Guide, available at recreation facilities and online at www.campbellriver.ca
