Since 2000, Telus, its team members and retirees have contributed $300 million to charitable organizations and have volunteered 4.8 million hours of service in local communities, making a significant impact across the country.
Most recently Telus’ impact included the Campbell River Hospital Foundation, donating $5,000 to support the purchase of electrosurgical equipment for the endoscopy department at the Campbell River hospital.
This equipment is used in procedures like removing polyps and gastric ulcers in the GI tract. It is a complete system that offers physicians control and the ability to complete multiple therapies all from one platform and one device. The endoscopy department in the local hospital performs approximately 10 procedures per day, five days per week.
“At Telus, we believe in our hearts and minds that in order to do well in business we must do ‘good’ in the communities where we live, work and serve,” Paul Cisecki, home team manager for Telus, says. “Being a part of the local Telus Community Action Team is one of the best aspects of what I do.”
Telus Community Actions Teams manage donation requests from charitable organizations that operate in communities outside major urban centres. Through this innovative approach, which complements the work of the Telus Community Boards, they make financial support accessible to grassroots organizations outside of major urban centres and put community investment decision-making in the hands of local team members.
