Remember to replace the smoke alarm batteries in your home when the clocks spring forward 2 a.m. March 10 to ensure they remain in working order throughout the year.

Remember to replace the smoke alarm batteries in your home when the clocks spring forward to ensure they remain in working order throughout the year, the City of Campbell River is reminding everyone.

Clocks will “spring forward” one hour for the start of Daylight Saving Time on March 10, 2024.

Fire and smoke spread quickly. The city’s Fire Department recommends having a smoke alarm in every bedroom, outside every sleeping area, and on each floor of your home. To keep your smoke alarms working their best, follow the “once-a-month, once-a-year, once-a-decade” rule:

· Test your smoke alarms at least once a month.

· Replace smoke alarm batteries at least once a year.

· Replace smoke alarms at least every 10 years.
