Experience the route through B.C. of the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline.
The Council of Canadians (Campbell River Chapter), Occupy Campbell River and Timberline’s Earth Club have come together to sponsor a film screening of On The Line on Monday at the North Island College/Timberline Theatre in Campbell River from 7-9 p.m.
On The Line follows filmmaker Frank Wolf and his friend Todd McGowan as they biked, hiked, rafted and kayaked the 2400 kilometer route of bitumen flowing from the tar sands of Fort McMurray, Alberta, along the proposed Enbridge Corporation’s pipeline route to Kitimat, B.C. and beyond.
The proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline project will cross 773 watercourses and bring supertankers to B.C.’s pristine North Coast for the first time ever in order to deliver tar sands bitumen to Asian markets.
This film documents the voices of people Wolf and McGowan meet along the way and their journey reveals the severe risks and consequences associated with this 5. 5 billion dollar mega-project.
At the Campbell River screening, Rob Fleming (Official Opposition Environment Critic) and Karen Wristen (Executive Director of Living Oceans Society) will be guest speakers after the film and a question and answer session will follow.
