This International Women’s Day the Campbell River Women’s Resource Centre wants to recognize a woman of inspiration in our community.

The centre is calling for nominations for their annual Woman of Inspiration award that will be awarded at the KDC’s International Women’s Day Tea on March 8 at the Thunderbird Hall.

Last year’s woman of inspiration was Krisandra Rufus, founder of Grassroots Kindhearts.

She was nominated because of her tireless dedication to feeding the homeless and in-need community in Campbell River every evening.

“Always one to encourage inclusion, she does not refer to her efforts as feeding the homeless, rather referring to feeding family and friends,” said Jodi Boyd, executive director, when presenting last years award. “People struggling have reported that they feel supported in a non-judgmental way and have since made significant changes.”

Rufus accepted the award with tears in her eyes.

“Please know that we genuinely appreciate and value your commitment to the people of Campbell River and remember your commitment helps create opportunities that empower not only our women but our people to succeed and for this we cannot thank you enough,” Boyd said.

This year nominate a woman in Campbell River who inspires you to be your best self and to give back to the community. Nominate that woman who goes above and beyond and could not be recognized enough.

Send your nominee’s contact information and explain how she has made an impact in the lives of others to info@crwomen.ca by Sunday, March 4.
