Santa, some of his elves and members of the CR Shito-Ryu Karate club collected toys and food to be used in the Christmas Hampers delivered by the Knights of Columbus Community Hamper Fund on Dec. 15.

The generous spirit of the people of Campbell River was evident as gift items, toys and 2,000 lbs of non-perishable foods worth an estimated total of $7,000 were placed in the bus over a two-day period Dec. 1-2. Chief organizer was Head Elf Barb Mintz.

Donations of money, non-perishable foods and toys are also still welcomed at the Hamper Office in the Campbell River Common. The depot is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday. The phone number is 250-914-3716.
