Campbell River school district scholarship winners announced

The Ministry of Education made changes to the provincial scholarship program for graduating students

The Ministry of Education made changes to the provincial scholarship program for graduating students during the 2012/2013 school year and the winners’ names have been released.

Based on 86 per cent or better on three provincial exams and a minimum B average in English 12, the following students received a provincial government award for $1,000:

From Carihi Secondary: Olivia Carter, Jocelyn Cormier, Jesse Downie, Lindsay Frame, Brennan Hagen, Mackenzie Kennedy-Burgoyne, Jordan Kirchner, Celeste Lessard-Kragen, Talise Lindenbach, Jamie Lund, Grant Mitchell, Shane Murphy, Abby Neufeld, Jules Pare, Emma Peachey, Victoria Peters, Josie Rippingale, Kellen Rondeau, Josephine Simpson, Corey Spetifore, Jessie Stirling, Jacob Storback, James Wasteneys, Misha Whittingham, and Maia Windrim.

From Timberline Secondary: Natasha Farrant, Abhilasha Gnawali, Hunter McKay, Derek Murray, Annalies Turley, and Benjamin Wagg.

The district is also now able to recognize the 2012/2013 District Scholarship winners.

District scholarships are awarded to students who do not receive a provincial scholarship, however achieve a B grade in English 12 and scored in the top range within our district. The following students received a district scholarship in the amount of $500:

From Carihi Secondary: Armin Bayati, Paul Jackman, Remington Idiens, and Chrystal Woytowich.

From Timberline Secondary: Amanda Lowe and Kayla Morton.
