Campbell River resident Geri Arkell was among the 45 nurses recognized for excellence at the annual College of Registered Nurses of B.C. awards ceremony on April 19, in Vancouver.
Arkell, an oncology nurse at Campbell River Hospital, received the Award of Excellence in Nursing Practice. Arkell is responsible for supporting and educating other oncology nurses on the ward.providing clinical care and counseling patients about their cancer journey.
She also acts as a liaison with several stakeholders such as Home Nursing Care, Hospice, Palliative Care Steering Committee, the Canadian Cancer Society and all wards of the hospital.
