5th Annual River Relief Truck set for Dec. 2

The River Morning Show Host, Rickie Tyler, is committing herself to live out of a 53 foot transport trailer until it is full

For the fifth year, 99.7 The River is hosting the River Relief Truck in support of the Campbell River Food Bank and other local charities.

Last year, in 12 days, the River Relief Truck raised a tractor trailer load of non-perishable food items which supplied the CR Food Bank well into the new year. The River Relief Truck will be located downtown in Mariner Square starting Monday, Dec. 2.

It’s about giving back to the community. it’s extremely important that we take care of those less fortunate in Campbell River … and Christmas is the largest time of need.  99.7 The River Morning Show Host, Rickie Tyler, is committing herself to live out of a 53 foot transport trailer, from Van Kam Transportation, until it is full.  99.7 The River will be broadcasting live from the trailer for the duration of the River Relief Truck, encouraging the community to support the initiative and bring donations to the downtown location in Mariner Square on Dogwood Street.

The public and local businesses went above and beyond last year in their support. Organizers were overwhelmed by the community’s generosity. On ‘Turkey Tuesday’, they put the call out for turkeys for the Salvation Army.  By the end of the day well over 600 turkeys had been donated.

The need for food donations continues to be high, and the goal is to once again fill the semi-trailer with non-perishable food donations.  99.7 The River is asking the community for their support this year starting December 2nd.  Get your business involved, your sports team, school, association or even just your own household.
