The Victoria Royals announced Jack Heisinger as their new general manager on April 10.

He is the fourth general manager in team history.

“Last summer, we began the process of charting a new direction for the Victoria Royals, which included a new leadership structure with Jake’s onboarding,” said Joey Poljanowski, vice president of hockey operations, in a press release.

After six seasons with the Winnipeg ICE franchise as the vice president of hockey operations and assistant general manager, Heisinger helped the team captured the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy in back-to-back seasons for the best record in the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Heisinger joined the Royals in August 2023 as the team’s associate general manager. The Royals elected to not have a general manager for the 2023-2024 season.

“This move represents another step forward for the team in promoting an individual whose proven leadership and vision will best guide us towards our ultimate goal of bringing a Memorial Cup to Victoria,” Poljanowski said.

The Victoria Royals returned to the playoffs in the 2023-2024 season under the guidance of Poljanowski, Heisinger, and James Patrick, ending a five-year drought.

“We have taken some good steps in the right direction this season, but we still have a ways to go to get to where we want to eventually get,” Heisinger said.

Heisinger and the rest of the team’s front office are preparing for the WHL Prospects Draft, scheduled for May 9. The Royals will enter the draft with a team-record seven picks in the first four rounds, including two first-round selections.
