CLAPHAM,Thomas Harry
Formerly of Campbell River, passed away at Nanaimo Senior Village on Friday, April 22, 2005.
Born in Peterborough, Ontario on Feb. 14, 1924, he was predeceased by his wife Isabelle, his parents and younger brother and sister, he is survived by sons Herb (Joan) of Penticton and Tom (Arline) of Quadra Island, daughters Kathleen Cox of Courtenay and Rebecca (Ron) Barnard of Shawnigan Lake, 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grand children and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Harry worked at Cruise Motors Ltd., for many years, in Ontario, he was active with Kiwanis and the Scouting movement where he served on its Canadian Council. He was with Search and Rescue for 16 years and was its director for 2 years. In tandem with his search and rescue work, Harry taught Coast Guard boating safety courses for 14 years. In his leisure he enjoyed travel, and the outdoors, particularly fishing. He served with the RCAF and was a proud veteran of the Second World War.
