Maureen Bodil McCormick

August 7, 2016

August 15, 1937 - August 7, 2016

Maureen passed away suddenly on August 7th at Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, BC. She was born in Rock Bay, BC and spent her early years in nearby Campbell River, later graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Library Science from UBC. Working in libraries took her across the country to Ontario and later to Zambia, before moving back to BC and the coast she loved, in 1977. Maureen spent twenty-two years as chief librarian of the B.C. Courthouse Library Society, overseeing all courthouse libraries in the province. In retirement she was finally able to focus on her love of genealogy and spent much of her time researching her family as well as taking on projects for others. Maureen was the last of her siblings, predeceased by three brothers, David, Dennis and Colin. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews as well as cousins she found through her research. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Megara and grandson Liam, who aren’t quite sure what they are going to do without her.
