This year’s March for Children benefits Campbell River’s tiniest patients

Funds from the Rotary March for Children will help buy a piece of equipment that allows medical teams to provide the best possible treatment to Campbell River hospital’s tiniest patients.

The Rotary Clubs of Campbell River recently presented $10,626 to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation, proceeds from the March for Children in February. These funds will support the purchase of a Panda Warmer the Maternity department at the Campbell River Hospital.

Panda warmers are for resuscitation stations for babies. One is always brought into the operating rooms for C-sections. Medical staff have indicated that it can be difficult monitoring babies during the transport to the nursery if the baby needs resuscitation. More than 170 C-sections and 400 births occur on average in Campbell River each year,

The March for Children is a project shared between the Rotary Club of Campbell River and the Rotary Club of Campbell River Daybreak and has generated more than $458,195.00 since it began in 1994.

The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Throughout their history, Campbell River Rotarians have continuously adopted the theme that Rotarians are committed to “putting something back into the community.” This has resulted in millions of dollars and tens of thousands of volunteer hours into projects for the citizens of Campbell River.
