The Campbell River Wrestling Association hosted its annual Campbell River invitational last weekend.

Two hundred and twenty wrestlers descended on the River city to compete against the local competition.

The tournament was a huge success with  many wrestlers leaving with hardware.

In the junior girls category Haley Wingert led the charge with gold. Lexus Willis,  Zoe Solway and Kaitlyn Jinda earned silver and Keely Elves took the bronze. Hailey Ricardo placed fourth and Chantel Poslowsky finished the day in fifth.

The junior boys posted equally impressive results. Scott Assu, Quin Golobar, and Joel House all finished first in their respective weight categories. Bryn Ewing brought home silver and Holten Ewing  placed fifth.

With this being the last training ground before Islands and Provincials, the senior wrestlers put it all on the mat. Alex Jinda finished in third, Ali McPhee and Dawson McKay in second and Hailey Dean and Mike Herman finished the tournament on top, both brining gold home to Carihi. Herman wrestled impressively in his first tournament this year after a shoulder injury. Next on deck is the Islands next weekend in Port Alberni.
