We live in an amazing biking community!

Well, apparently lots of families see the benefits and a little wind or potential rain means nothing

If you read this last week you know we were putting on the 5th annual Swicked Cycles Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day.

We have had some good success in the past and last year had 60 people including kids and parents.

But with the iffy weather this year and some strong winds we just weren’t sure how big the event would be, or how many families actually see the benefit of getting their kids riding in the trails.

Well, apparently lots of families see the benefits and a little wind or potential rain means nothing, because we had over 60 kids signed in and with parents and volunteers we had 100 people out biking last Sunday.

It was phenomenal!

I led an excited group of little ones on run bikes and really tiny pedal bikes and was pleasantly surprised to see how they fed off each other to ride faster and farther than normal. No meltdowns and lots of smiles. We also had four other groups of kids at all different levels riding all the trails of the Beaver Lodge Lands.

After an hour of pedalling and run biking, everyone enjoyed a ton of pizza and a bit of sunshine before heading home to recover from the fun.

It makes me proud to be part of such a cool and outdoorsy community and it was inspiring to see all those little faces having so much fun on their bikes.

So thank you to all who participated, thanks the leaders who volunteered their time, thanks to Boston Pizza for all that delicious food and thank you Chenoa for organizing such an great event.
