Timberline's girls volleyball team hosted and won the Island championships last weekend.

After defeating Lambrick Park in three straight sets in the semi-finals, the Wolves went on to the final against Dover Bay and won 3-1. Timberline won the first set 25-20, lost the second 23-25 and then won the final two sets 27-25 and 25-13.

Head Coach Terry Philp said the girls were nervous playing in front of so many people and really felt the pressure, but fought through the nerves.

“In the end they did what they had to do and defended their title,” Philp said. “It was a great lesson in how nerves and pressure can be your enemy if you don’t manage them.”

Timberline’s Brooklyn Reesor and Corder won all-star awards while Timberline’s Sarah Chase was named tournament MVP. Carihi also took part in the tournament and finished in eighth.
