The 98 Island Stars came home victorious from the annual Valley Cup Spring Hockey Tournament played in Surrey earlier this month.

The Stars, a select team of Vancouver Island players born in 1998, shut out the Vancouver Attack 3-0 in the championship game to win the bantam division.

The Stars won five of their six games at the three-day tournament, outscoring their opponents 26-4.

The team includes three players from Campbell River.

There was left winger Sage Lim who notched a hat trick in the Stars’ 6-1 semi-final victory over the Vancouver Junior Giants.

Centre Josh Coblenz collected 10 points during the tournament and defenceman Andy Stevens contributed a goal and five assists.

All three were members of this year’s Campbell River Bantam A Tyees squad that won the provincial title.
