Sequoia Springs Golf and Country Club officially recognized the start of the 2015 golf season

Sequoia Springs Golf and Country Club officially recognized the start of the 2015 golf season last weekend with the 26th annual Smurf Classic tournament.

Ray and Bernice Melissa and teammates Ronnie and Lennai Chickite teamed up to win the four-person team scramble with an 8-under-par 64.

Seven teams followed one stroke back at 65 in the tourney, which drew 78 golfers.

The tournament raised $700 for Campbell River Food Bank while providing several prizes for participants.

KP winners included Joey Henderson on No. 11 and Marilyn Liebel on No. 14.
