The Campbell River Peewee Ravens travelled to Victoria May 23 to determine who would be crowned Champions in the Captain Cook Lacrosse tournament.

After controlling the pace and the score board in the two opening matches with decisive wins over Naniamo and Port Alberni.

The Team then came up against a determined host in Juan de Fuca and the Ravens fell behind by three goals in the opening period.

After regrouping between the first and second periods the Ravens went on to score five unanswered goals to win the game 5-3.

The following morning the Ravens faced Jaun de Fuca again in the first semi-final matchup of the day to see who would earn a spot in the Gold medal match.

After making some defensively minded adjustments to the Ravens bench the team was able to stifle JDF offences and only give up one goal in a close 3-1 victory.

The Ravens faced Cowichan Valley in the finals, a team that the Ravens had previously tied 5-5 only two weeks before the tournament. The game turned out to be just as hard fought as the previous tilt.

With the difference this time being in the Ravens whole team dedicating them self’s to playing a much more disciplined style of lacrosse.

The most impressive part of the Gold medal game was Campbell River’s new found depth in scoring as all four goals were scored by four different players in the 4-1 win.
