Peewee Hurricane snag a medal

The Campbell River Peewee Hurricanes participated in the 14th annual Sooke Fall Female Face Off over the Remembrance Day weekend. The Hurricanes took on the host team Sooke Thunderbirds in its first match up. The Hurricanes skated away with a 5-1 win.

Next up was the Skills competition where the Hurricanes competed hard and finished in first place. In the Speed Lap Lauren Martynyk finished in second. In the Agility, Paige Beauregard finished third, in the Best shot Everett Feeney finished second in the Puck handling Julianne Nelson was fourth, and in the Breakaway goalie competition Ashley Hogg finished first.

Coming off the skills competition the girls headed into the next game against the Nanaimo Clippers it was a hard fought game and ended in a 3-3 tie. Game three of the round robin matched the Hurricanes up with the Juan de Fuca Grizzlies. The game was a tight affair with the score 0-0 at the end of two periods. In the third period the Grizzlies managed to score two goals and the Hurricanes could only reply with one of their own.  With the loss the Hurricanes were relegated to the bronze medal game.

In the Bronze medal game the Hurricanes came up against the Nanaimo Clippers. The game was fast paced and the Hurricanes took a 2-1 lead by the end of the first period. In the second period the Hurricanes stretched their lead to 3-1 and put it out of reach with an early goal in the third for a 4-1 to win the Bronze medal.

Next up for the Campbell River Peewee Hurricanes is a road game to Oceanside against the Breakers on Sunday. The Hurricanes sit at 1-1-0 in league play.
