Campbell River’s June Grain came away from the recent 2012 BC Senior Games with two medals.

Grain won the gold medal in the five-kilometre power walk with a time of 36 minutes and six seconds.

Grain followed that performance with a silver medal win in the 10-km road walk, which she completed in one hour, 18 minutes and 53 seconds.

Grain does all her training in Campbell River.

“I love the fact that we have the most beautiful Sea Walk in Campbell River,” Grain says. “I can be seen ‘pounding the pavement’ on the Sea Walk almost every morning.”

Overall, Barry Sparkes, Director for Zone 2 (Vancouver Island North) said that Zone 2 placed a strong third in the BC Senior Games this year which were held in Burnaby, Aug. 21-25. Campbell River hosted the games with the Comox Valley in 2010.
